In tournaments, it can happen players score the same amount of points. In the Pyramid, where you play 2 games, each player might win 1 game. To decide who is the winner of the match, we use a 'tiebreaker'.
Besides scoring points for a game, you also score tiebreaker points. If players are tied based on points, the winner of the match will be the one who scored the most tiebreaker points.
Select the game to see the specific tiebreaker rule for that game:
8 Cities
Beasty Beach
Bungalow Boss
Comino
Dominate
Einstein
Floriado
Gipsy King
Powerboats
Streetsoccer
Territories
Streetsoccer
For winning a game in Streetsoccer within 25 turns, you get 5 points.
If you win in overtime, you get 4 points.
If you are tied but were the last to score, you get 3 points.
If you are tied but you didn't score last, or nobody scored, you get 2 points.
If you lose in overtime you get 1 point.
And if you lose in regular time you get no points at all.
The tiebreaker score is: 1000 * (#your goals #opponent goals) + #your goals.
So if you win 32 your tiebreaker is 1003. If you lose 24 your tiebreaker is 1998.
If you win because your opponent resigns or times out, one goal will be added to your score + as many goals needed to make you 'win' the game. So if you're ahead 42 when your opponent resigns, the tiebreaker will be based on a final score of 52. If you're trailing 24, the tiebreaker will be based on a final score of 54.
8 Cities
For winning a game in 8 Cities, you get 2 points, for losing 0 points. For a tie both players get 1 point.
The tiebreaker score is: 1000 * ( your score / (your score + opponent score)).
If you win 64 your tiebreaker is 600. (1000 * ( 6 / (6+4))).
If your opponent resigns or times out, the tiebreaker will be 10000.
Gipsy King
Here too you get 2 points for winning, 1 point for a tie and no points for losing.
Your tiebreaker score is: your score opponent score.
If you win 10694, your tiebreaker is 12.
In case of a resignation or time out, if your tiebreaker is less than 6, it will be changed to 10. If it's more than 5, you'll get 5 points added to it. So if the score is 10694, the tiebreaker will be based on 11194. If it is 94106, it will be based on 116106.
Territories
For Territories, it's the same as Gipsy King.
Suppose you win 2218, then your tiebreaker is 4. If you lose by that score, your tiebreaker is 4.
If your opponent times out or resigns, you'll get all the remaining squares, with a minimum of 21. So if the score is 1311 when your opponent resigns, the tiebreaker will be based on a final score of 2911. If the score is 1422 then it will be based on a final score of 2119.
Floriado
The tiebreaker for Floriado is almost the same... it's 100 times the difference in scores.
Suppose you win 2218, then your tiebreaker is 400. If you lose by 2321, your tiebreaker is 200.
If your opponent times out or resigns, you'll get 10 bonus points, plus as many points needed to win. If your opponent times out at a score of 810, you'll win 1810 (tiebreaker 800). If the score is 1131, you will win 3231.
Powerboats
The tiebreaker for Powerboats is simple: it's 100 times your score your damage points. So if you win 42, and you have 3 points of damage and your opponent has 2 points of damage, your tiebreaker is 397, and your opponent's tiebreaker is 198.
Here, if your opponent times out or resigns, you get the 4 points immediately. So if the current score is 22 and you have 1 point of damage and your opponent has 2 points of damage, you win 42 and your tiebreaker is 399.
Beasty Beach
Your tiebreaker for Beasty Beach is simply the number of points you have scored the number of points your opponent scored.
If you win because your opponent resigns or times out, you get an additional 5 points but your tiebreaker will be 5 points minimal. Suppose you trail 1820 when this happens, your tiebreaker is 5. If you are leading 2018, your tiebreaker is 7.
Bungalow Boss
Here the tiebreaker is the difference in points, divided by 10.
And if you win because of a resignation or time out, an extra 200 points is added to that score but you score at least 200. If you're behind 26004000, your tiebreaker is 200. If you're ahead 40002600, your tiebreaker is 340 (140 + 200).
Dominate
Here the tiebreaker simply is the difference in points.
When your opponent resigns or times out, her score will be reduced to zero, while your score stands. So if the score is 810 and your opponent times out, you will win 80.
Einstein
In Einstein you get a point for each game you win in the match.
When your opponent resigns or times out, you simply get 2 points.
